【Taichung Lukang One Day Trip】

2nd station: Rainbow Village (20mins)

4th station: Lukang Longshan Temple (20mins)
5th station: Mo Ru Lane (20mins)
6th station: Gaomei Wetland (till sunset)

< The Luce Memorial Chapel >
It is a Christian chapel on the campus of Tunghai University in Xitun District, Taichung, Taiwan. It was designed by the firm of noted architect I. M. Pei. The chapel is located on a 3-acre zone in the center of campus, and is set on an irregular hexagonal base. The church itself is a tent-like conoid structure with four warped, establishing itself as a central landmark on campus.

< Rainbow Village >
It is located at Nantun district ChunAn road, the walls and surrounding buildings was painted in bright and colourful drawings by Rainbow Grandpa, Huang Yong-Fu. His fantasy and vibrant colour artworks has brighten up the village and attract visitors attention.

< Lukang Old Street >
It is famed for its well-preserved cultural and historical heritages, which filled by traditional Taiwanese style houses with carved doorways and windows, intricately designed arches over the main entrance, thin red brick walls and red tiled road, as well as retro green mailboxes hanging outside the houses boasting an antique charm. Through a walk down the winding alleys of Lukang Old Street, one may still find the old glories of the town.

< Lukang Longshan Temple >
It is the largest temple in Lukang, whose founding year is unavailable, but most of the structures were completed by 1831. It is also believed to be Taiwan’s most well-preserved Fujianese style architecture from the Qing dynasty. Owing to its architectural, artistic and historical significance, Lukang Longshan Temple has been named a national historic site and one of the most beautiful temples in Taiwan.
Caissons can be commonly seen in traditional temples, but Lukang Longshan Temple is particularly noted for its intricate caisson, which fully demonstrates the skillful craftsmanship back then. It is also the oldest and largest existing caisson in Taiwan.

< Moru Lane >
is a narrow alley, which links two main streets. It eventually became an attraction because of the funny street name, which means touching breast lane in Mandarin thus in order for 2 person to walk through will need to squeeze through and many people walk through it but it is hard to pass each other in the middle.

< Gaomei Wetland >
It was so windy but why everyone still going there? Gaomei Wetland is located in Dajia, Taichung, one of the most well known and well preserved wetland habitats in Taiwan. With windmills on the background, the extraordinary wetland scenery and the sunset, Gaomei Wetlands is a hot spot for photo shooting.
