Yilan is a county located in the North-Eastern part of Taiwan. I have long heard about the beauty of the eastern part of Taiwan, and hence this time, we are traveling to Yilan!
Took an early morning bus to Yilan from Taipei Main Station. There are many different bus companies that offer this journey hence we had no fuss. We stopped at the Luodong city of Yilan county.
To explore this county, we had to have our own transport to maximize our experience, since public transport is not that developed yet here. So we rented a motorcycle from a local store.
Our first stop was the Jianqing Huaigu Trail. It took a solid 2 hours ride from Luodong here. The journey was not easy but the scenery was great!

Felt like fairyland!

By the way this place is located on a mountain, so it gets cold despite the warm weather in on ground level okay! (I didn’t know this before I went there..)

An old wooden bridge that specified maximum number of people for your safety

And a hanging rope bridge too!

Of course, the infamous train track that was covered with moss. Heard that this place will be stunning when the sky is clear. Well perhaps another trip someday?
After that we rode to Weishui’s Hill. This place is actually a cemetery, but do not worry it’s not that spooky! (Go during daytime?)

For the thrills!
And you will see many locals doing this too

And the view from the hilltop. Again the weather was not at its best, but heard that when the sky is clear, we can have a nice perfect panoramic view of the city!
After all the long journey we were very tired, hence we went back to Luodong city and rested, before heading out to the night market!
Food in Yilan is very much different from the western part of Taiwan.

The Luodong night market

The stinky tofu! Must-try in Taiwan

This is like a special dessert that is found in Yilan county.. something special and worth trying!

So it’s like deep-fried preserved egg, that comes in different flavors. This shop has the original flavor and Thai sour-spicy flavor.

Not only spicy tofu, now we have spicy fries.
We had so much food that night, that we were so satisfied and planning to go back again!
That’s all for now! What do you think about Yilan? Gotta plan a trip soon!
